In general the following points should be taken into consideration when choosing the name of a company:

The company's name does not exist until Companies House issues the certificate of incorporation for the company. Therefore the new name should not be used on items such as company stationery until the certificate has been issued.
Companies House will not register a name which is the same as an existing company. Also within 12 months of a name being registered Companies House can require the name to be changed because it is "too like" an existing company.
If you pick a name that is already registered, an “exact match”, you may be able to register the company by adding qualifying or additional word to the company name. Examples of these include: Marketing, Solutions, (UK), (U.K), Services, London (or wherever your company is based).

If the proposed new name includes a sensitive word, Companies House will require written justification for its use. Sensitive words are prescribed by various statutes and statutory instruments. In some cases the permission of a particular body, government department etc will be needed before a particular word or phrase may be used. perform a company name search.
