HM Revenue & Customs are automatically told about all new limited companies and write to them around 2 to 6 weeks after a company is formed. This letter is known as a CT41(G) and will give you the Unique Tax Reference for your business which you will need to keep.
At the same time HMRC will ask for information about your company including when it will start trading and what it will be doing. They will also ask if you want to appoint an agent.
Benefits of appointing an agent:
They get copies of letters HMRC send to your business so they can spot any problems
They can speak to HMRC on your behalf and can deal with problems for you
They can file returns and other forms with HMRC for you
They get regular updates from HMRC so know about any changes to the tax rules
As part of our Startup Accountancy package our partners at Pinnacle Accountancy can be appointed as your agent and deal with HMRC on your behalf.
